Opening Day( September 21, 2004) Washington, DC ; the Native American Museum officially opened to the public. A day of magnificent weather and celebration Paying homage honoring the Native Cultures of this hemisphere. It was almost spooky when I gazed into the sky that late afternoon to witness the cloud formations. There was a series of spheres in the sky as if a message or spirit was among us. For a moment we were captivated by its presence.

"Reparations"
Response to all the flag waving after 9/11 .
I felt compelled to create a message to address another equity issue... Reparations.
The African in USAmerica
My response to 9/11 was outrage to the obvious...
Didn't you see it coming...

Allowing ideas to run recklessly unedited through my head...
Sun light blazing through windows Cast shadows that flow like paths of least resistance
while we play like innocent souls
Sun Light Blaze through windows cast shadows flowing like paths of least resist while we play like innocent souls .
Shadow give light form... imaginative draw near
Soul of shadow Light Blaze
Blaze Through Cast Flow resist play
You get what I mean... Jazz poetry
Shadows define the light

Image: "GigN'sAtTwinsJazz"
The title comes from the fact that the photo was taken after the last set at TwinsJazz, Washington, DC. The group performing was David "Fat Head" Newman, Sax, Bob Butta, Piano, Steve Novasel, bass and Harold Mann, Drums. The set took place August 10, 2005.
During the last set of the night, I usually attempt to capture special moments that might highlight the performance. It wasn't until the set ended and the musicians rested their instruments that I caught this view depicting something special...The position of the bass and drums embraced the sign "TwinsJazz" perfectly. The only trick was balancing the light( interior with the exterior sign.)
After some croping and moving mic stands out of view I finally got what I wanted,

Image titled "BloodLine"... It was a day that Pop and I were hanging out in the backyard checking out the varied weeds that coexisted. Pop had identified one he hadn't seen before nor was familiar . I saw him examining the seeds and we both agreed that the seed represented " a bloodline" to that particular strain of plant. Also, I exclaimed that beauty is often overlooked right in our yards. Because we've declared them weeds they are forsakened.
Hence, This photograph perfectly demonstrates the lineage represented by the seeds in those 90 plus year old hands.
It was early evening therefore the sun was low in the sky and very warm in color which further added to the richness. Because it's September, the end of the summer, this image "BloodLine" is endearing because of memories of this recent summer with Pop.
